I'm skilled at teaching students of all abilities and backgrounds, and I've helped students pass the IELTS and become confident speaking English. My Chinese fluency and experience working in China help me teach Chinese students English — even those with no previous knowledge of the language. With a background as a writer, editor, and Master's graduate, I'm also well placed to teach you how to write essays, including for the IELTS writing section, the Gao Kao, and other writing tests. Beyond IELTS, I teach everyday spoken English, grammar, and lessons for young learners and early readers.
I can teach Chinese students English even with zero background in the language. Whatever level you're at, we can build from there — together.
Lessons on a vast variety of topics, so you can talk about anything that interests you. Just tell me, and I'll tailor lessons to fit.
I encourage English as much as possible, but I don't hesitate to use Chinese to explain a concept when it genuinely helps understanding.
As an American who's lived in China, Korea, and Thailand, I know exactly what it takes to learn a new language as an adult — patiently and persistently.
Built lesson by lesson, topic by topic, so nothing is left to chance on test day.
A full Band 7.0 lesson: model IELTS responses, plug-and-play grammar frames, topic vocabulary, common usage mistakes, a CCQ grammar deep-dive, speaking practice, and a writing homework task — exactly what you'd get in a real lesson with me.
